I recently attended a Bloggers Brunch hosted by Kids Business in Sydney and at the event we were introduced to Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.  After sharing a photo on Instagram about the Biggest Morning Tea I was inundated with requests to host one.. so it’s happening (and big thanks to Melbourne Mamma for helping make it a reality!).

Two of the guest speakers at the Bloggers Brunch spoke about their experiences with cancer – as you can imagine it was very emotional and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  We were presented with the sobering thought that, given 1 in 2 Australians will have cancer in their lifetime, at some point in our lives we are either going to be saying to, or hearing these words from, a loved one: “I’ve got cancer”

Elle del Re, WA Sales Manager of JURA, was one of the guest speakers who shared her story.  She told us her journey – which I am sure many reading this can identify with (other than the cancer part I hope).  She was busy juggling family and work, she was tired and ignoring the little warning triggers – she had plenty of reasons for putting her visit to the GP off – reasons any busy mum would know well.

By sharing her story, Elle wanted to encourage us to never ignore warning signs and to put our health first.

Thankfully there was a happy end to her story – Elle’s treatment was successful, she had a supportive family and colleagues who rallied and got her through the worst of times.  And her workplace, JURA, is a proud supporter of the Biggest Morning Tea as a result of Elle’s journey.  During May and June JURA will donate $50 to the Cancer Council from every coffee machine sale.

The Cancer Council both supports sufferers with financial support and treatment support as well as investing in research to find a cure and improve treatments.  The money raised at Biggest Morning Tea events is donated to the Cancer Council.  Taking part is easy, simply register yourself as a host, set a date in May or June and invite your friends – or join Melbourne Mamma and myself on Friday 27 May.

Disclosure:  Kids Business invited me to attend the Sydney Bloggers Brunch and paid for my flights so I could attend and share with you the story of Elle and the Biggest Morning Tea.  My decision to host a Biggest Morning Tea is completely my own choice and not sponsored in any way by Kids Business or JURA.
