What’s happening around Melbourne during the April School Holidays?


ACMI, 1-15 April.  School holiday programs and activities all about making stuff: learn coding, filmmaking, robotics, claymation, virtual reality and more.  For all the details www.acmi.net.au/events/school-holiday-program. NGV Internationa, until 15 April.  Triennial has taken over the major gallery spaces of the entire NGV – explore the gallery for days uncovering incredible works from international artists.  FREE.  Read our review here.

Melbourne Museum. The Brickman has returned to the Museum with some brand new LEGO sculptures – on display until 29 April.  2million LEGO bricks have been used to create incredible objects, read more about Brickman Awesome (tickets $25).  School holiday activities happening these school holidays from 31 March – 15 April range from FREE – $15.  melbournemuseum/whats-on/school-holiday-activities/

Don’t forget that IMAX has some fantastic 45-minute documentaries (as well as general release movies) that are a perfect quiet time if you are spending the whole day at the Museum.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival, 28 March – 22 April.  Loads of family friendly shows – including the free Laugh Out Loud at Federation square.. for all the details www.comedyfestival.com.au.  Our reviews include: Splash Test Dummies, Fizzy Kids, Improvilicious and Garfield the Musical.  MELBOURNE.

The Arts Centre.  These holidays learn the art of Magic thanks to a series of workshops, artscentremelbourne.com.au/whats-on/the-magic-workshop.  And the next installment of everyone’s favourite Treehouse series, the 78-Storey Treehouse has arrived.  MELBOURNE

O’Brien Group Arena, 30 March – 15 April.  Over the Easter long weekend enjoy fun Easter themed activities, and from Tuesday 3 April onwards meet some of our Olympic champions daily! More information. DOCKLANDS

Kids Adventure Outdoors Angelsea, 7 + 8 April this is a fun way to try out lots of outdoor activities that you might not normally have access too (without out a bunch of coordinating).  Choose your own adventures (4 of them over the day) ranging from flying fox and rope course, trampolines, mini golf, surfing and so much more!  More information here.

Good Friday Appeal Kids Day Out:  Loads of fantastic family friendly activities – all for a Gold Coin donation to the Children’s Hospital to participate in most activites (FREE entry).
