Sydney’s all about the harbour and its beaches – and the Redleaf Pool (recently renamed Murray Rose Pool) is one of the best.  A lovely strip of sand to dig in, gentle to no waves and two pontoons to swim out too – not to mention the jaw-droppingly gorgeous views, handy amenities (enclosed change rooms, showers, lockers) and onsite cafe… spend the morning/day here on a beautiful day and I defy anyone not to wistfully longing to be a local!

The Pool is a rather well kept secret.  Signage from the street is minimal – although there is signage for the Woollahra Council so I would use that as your landmark.  The council building has onsite car-parking which is available to the public to use.  You can access the beach from two directions – the first access point is a pathway that runs alongside the entrance to the underground car park, the second access is to walk through the beautiful council gardens down winding paths (the only way to access the beach with a pram).

Signage is limited and the beach isn’t visible from the street – so it really is a case of being a little adventurous (if it’s a warm day and holidays/weekend then follow anyone carrying a towel!) but the search is worth it in the end  🙂

There are a few shady spots next to the beach, but the prepared locals bring their beach umbrellas.
