What’s happening around Melbourne during the July School Holidays?
MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
NGV International, various days. NGV is running FREE drop-in workshops from 1-4 July, 10am – 1pm. For more details click here (and for the teen program check this out). Also worth noting, during the holidays the NGV is offering extended hours (opening at 8am) for the Alexander Calder and Terracotta Warrior exhibitions.

Don’t forget that IMAX has some fantastic 45-minute documentaries (as well as general release movies) that are a perfect quiet time if you are spending the whole day at the Museum.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Disney on Ice celebrates Mickey and Friends is at Rod Laver Area from the 4-8 July. For the first time ever, see fearless Moana on a high-seas adventure with demigod Maui. The Arts Centre. These holidays younger audiences will fall in love with BEEP. From 9-13 July, recommended for ages 2-7. MELBOURNE
Melbourne Theatre Company presents the stage adaptation of Storm Boy. 17 June – 20 July. Suitable for ages 11+. MELBOURNE

The District Docklands is hosting the Ice Slide, and thanks to sponsor UNIQLO you can ride the slide for a gold coin donation (supporting Kids Under Cover). SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has partnered with Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet to create five interactive photo walls focusing on the aquarium’s most intriguing sea creatures! MELBOURNE
Langham: on weekdays from 1-19 July, the Aria Lounge will be hosting a Jurassic World high tea. From Tyrannosaurus Rex cake pops coated in white chocolate to dinosaur egg chocolate mousse, the menu features a selection of savory and sweet dishes. MELBOURNE
The Old Melbourne Gaol’s hugely popular ‘Escape the Gaol’ interactive experience exclusively for kids is back for a limited time from Saturday, 29 June until Sunday, 21 July. Aimed at children aged six and up, Escape the Gaol tests children in their ability to decipher riddles and find clues, ultimately leading the ‘prisoner’ to pull off a great escape – all without being discovered by the prison guards! Monash University show’s off its new arts facilities with the inaugural Family Fiesta, running in the school holidays from 5-7 July. LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is running LEGO City Firefighter activities from 29 June – 14 July. Become a LEGO City hero by participating in a bunch of exciting rescue challenges. From creating a LEGO fire truck to filming a daring fire rescue in stop motion, there is plenty of LEGO City Firefighter fun to be had. CHADSTONE
Gumbuya World will be open 10 – 4pm each day from 29 June – 14 July. As well as their usual rides, wildlife and water play (the lazy river has been transformed with Pedal Boats) Gumbuya has some special holiday activities including Bricks for Kidz indoor LEGO activities with mosaic builds, LEGO Technics, craft stations and more. Enjoy Gumbo’s Wildlife Show, ranger talks with favourite animals as well as some giant sized games including Jenga, connect 4 and snakes and ladders. TYNONG
Sovereign Hill hosts the annual Winter Wonderlights event from 29 June – 21 July. During the day step back in time and enjoy Christmas in July 1800’s style – and then marvel at nightfall when the main street is transformed into a wonderland thanks to the incredible projections. BALLARAT

Puffing Billy is offering those who travel from Lakeside to Gembrook a 25% off weekday tickets (excludes family passes). When you arrive in Gembrook, enjoy the free Kids Town activities and games inside the warm Station building. The less busy Lakeside to Gembrook journey takes passengers over four historic timber rail bridges as the train winds its way through the unspoiled Wright State Forest.
