Sugar Republic – a pop up museum
Sugar Republic is not just the sweetest museum we’ve ever visited – it’s also the most instagrammable!
When:Open Mon-Sun (closed Wednesdays), Entry 10am-5pm (Thursday and Fridays extended hours until 8pm) until 15 August
Where: MacRobertson’s Factory, 379 Smith Street, FITZROY
Cost: Children 2 and under are FREE, kids aged 3-16 $25, adults $35 (kids must be supervised by an adult). Book online only (no tickets sold at the door)
This is an exhibition / experience / museum that is designed just as much for adults as it is the kids.
Actually probably worth remembering that this is an exhibition – not a play centre. You could be mistaken as it has all the trimmigs of a beautiful birthday party (including ice cream and lollies!) but there are also stunning artworks and installation pieces by local artists, and the building it’s located within is the old MacRobertson Factory – birthplace of the Freddo Frog and home of the Cherry Ripe!
The curators have had a lot of fun bringing this exhibition together – literally every few steps there is fun to be had and a beautiful photo opportunity. Immi (12) came along as my date for this preview and after 1.5 hours I had to drag her out (she would have stayed in the ball pit for another hour!) – imagine if she had some friends with her!
Tickets are set to allocated times and this is to ensure that the space doesn’t get over-crowded (the limit to enter every 30minutes is 30 people).
Looks Wonderful !!
