Thank you Jill for attending the opening night of The Whitney Houston Show: The Greatest Love of All on behalf of Meetoo to remember the Whitney we all loved when she was at the top of her game.

As soon as I saw the ad for The Whitney Houston Show I knew I had to go, and I knew there would be tears.

I am a big Whitney Houston fan, I grew up with her and she’s my go to, on repeat, Sunday brunch time music.

Opening night was packed, The Athenaeum gives the feel of an intimate show (although there are a couple of blind spots).

The audience was buzzing, you’d think the real Whitney was about to perform.

There were plenty of South Africans there to support their fellow country women, the star of the show, Belinda Davids.  She had been chosen after a worldwide search, with over 15000+ auditioning for the role.

As soon as she came onstage I had goose bumps, she not only sounds like Whitney, but her likeness and mannerisms are uncanny.

Every song I knew, except for one, this is when I noticed the talented dancers and band.

The show is lots of fun, lots of dancing, and tears, of course with great songs including The Greatest Love of All and I Will Always Love You, pulling at the heart strings.

The show is highly respectful of Whitney, helping us to remember her, as she was, at the top of her game.

We enjoyed the two hour show, not including a 20 minute break. Plenty of toilet facilities, a friendly bar, merchandise and seating available outside the theatre.

Like the first half of the show, I didn’t want it to end, we received hit after hit, lots of interaction with the crowd and left feeling so happy.

Belinda Davids is a talented singer and performer, she was also generous in her time – meeting and greeting, signing programs and CDs after the show.

I am without doubt going again, it was just too good to miss.
