Where: 100 Cadbury Road, Claremont, TASMANIA

To say the kids were excited about this review would be a massive understatement. Other than Easter, chocolate is very much a sometimes food around our place (well for the kids anyways, shh).
As you approach the Cadbury Chocolate Factory you can smell the chocolate. And the huge heritage listed buildings are an indication of just how huge the facility is – it’s in fact the largest chocolate factory in Australia.
Now I don’t want to build it up too much – as really, it’s underwhelming if you have your Augustus Gloop pants on and are expecting a river of chocolate. There is a gift shop (where you can stock up on Cadbury branded everything, from hoodies to bottle openers), there is the chocolate shop (where we spent most of our time) and there is a presentation.
I found the presentation interesting as they stepped us through the whole process from picking the cocoa pods to wrapping the Freddos – we even got to have a taste some of the raw ingredients. The presentation went for about 30 minutes (and with a chocolate shop in the next room and $2 coins burning a hole in their pockets – it would be fair to say my kids were a little restless).
The chocolate shop is filled with some awesome discounts – expect to stock up!
When you first arrive you are given a little goodie bag which contains some chocolates 🙂
There is also a cafe which claims to serve the best hot chocolate in Australia… (it’s a big claim).
Due to health and safety regulations tours no longer go into the working factory.
Expect your visit at the Cadbury Chocolate Factory to take about an hour. For more information click here.
