The delightful and entertaining ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown – The Musical’ is actually a bonafide ‘Broadway musical’ as it appeared on Broadway in the 1970’s (and more recently off-Broadway).  Fans of the comic strip and movie will enjoy this version too.

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown – The Musical incorporates everyone’s favourite characters including Charlie Brown, Sally, Lucy, Snoopy, Linus and Schroeder.

Most of the stars of the show have appeared in other recent musicals, but the kids particularly enjoyed seeing Snoopy (Luigi Lucente – Rocky Horror Show, Jersey Boys) and Sally (Sarah Morrison – the lead in Ladies in Black at MTC) perform. The production and staging are great with some interesting scene changes and lighting.

A family ticket is only $120 making it an affordable musical for the whole family. And the venue, the Alex Theatre in St Kilda, offers quite an intimate experience.

Street parking is difficult but we found $8 Parking at Woolworths across the road or Wilson parking is available nearby. It is also close to the Tram & light rail.

Although aimed at families remember it is a broadway musical, and some younger family members may find it hard to follow in parts, with lots of musical acts and little comedy or pantomime (which we often associate with children’s shows).  It runs for 120 minutes so You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown – The Musical suits kids aged 8 and up.
