Midnight the Musical is a brand new Australian production, with music and lyrics by John Foreman and Anthony Costanzo, and featuring an exclusive song by Kate Miller-Heidke.
The impressive cast includes Brianna Bishop, Shane Jacobson (Hairspray), Thomas McGuane (Frozen), Lucy Durack (Wicked), Verity Hunt Ballard (Mary Poppins), and Matt Lee (Mary Poppins/ Frozen) and is accompanied by a live orchestra.
Loosely inspired by the Cinderella story, this ground-breaking and enchanting new tale features Ella, a feisty, funny, and passionate young heroine who doesn’t want or need a so-called Prince Charming. Enchanted by this alluring stranger, the prince finds himself in uncharted territory and quickly learns that ‘Ella’ is like no other. Can he prove his worth? Can she ignite his desire for change? Can all be achieved before the magical stroke of MIDNIGHT?
Immi and her friend (both fans of musical theatre) enjoyed the show – they were impressed by the cast and found the lighthearted storyline fun. Their only feedback was that at 2.5 hours in length (that includes a 20min interval) younger audience members might be a little restless after a while – so we would recommend suitable for ages 8+.
