Review

We have published about Herring Island before (see here) but I decided it was time for an update.. also there is a Summer Arts Festival happening in the little gallery over there – which gives you an excuse to visit the gallery when you visit.  We happened to luckily turn up the day that some of the artists were on site working and sharing their materials – so naturally sleeves were rolled up and we joined in.  Unfortunately for you, that was a one off (but given the general vagueness about what was happening when I asked questions – I could be wrong).

Worth noting is that Kanteen cafe on Alexandra Ave is located right next to the jetty (or landing) where you catch the ferry over.  The ferry has no timetable, it operates on demand (just give the driver a wave if they are parked on the other side).

And on the Island is a BBQ and picnic area.  Be sure to explore the gardens and check out the sculptures dotted around the island.
