Summertime Social – a super fun backyard in the centre of the city
Summertime Social has transformed Federation Square’s car park rooftop into Melbourne’s biggest backyard hangout!
When: Mon-Thurs 11am-10pm, Fri-Sun 11am-late until end of Feb 2020
Where: back fo Fed Square, Russell Street entrance to the car park. MELBOURNE

Summertime Social features dazzling views of Melbourne’s skyline, from every angle, matched with the ultimate selection of summer-inspired refreshments and mouth-watering feeds and offers games to play and fun spaces to chill out in. Spend a lazy couple of hours taking in the views, munching on a meal and whiling away the hours playing games with the kids – it’s like the ultimate back yard fun (with a chef and bartender!).
When you pre-book your picnic hamper you gain exclusive access to a caravan or hut – check it out on the website (they do take walk-ins, but book ahead to avoid disappointment).
Our visit included a “Family Basket” designed to feed two adults and two children (and there was plenty to eat!!). The package included a grazing cheese and ploughman’s box, party pies, Dirty Birdie chicken tenders, summer slaw and nana’s famous potato salad plus ice cream vouchers for the whole family and kids Napoli pizzas, priced $90. (Veggie/vegan option available.)
Entry to Summertime Social is free – and you’re welcome to order food and drink onsite if booking ahead doesn’t suit (if the caravans and huts are all taken there is extra seating throughout the space). The board games and other games dotted around are there to be played, BUT if you’re keen to play bocce, skittles or shuffleboard you will need to book in a time (also available to book online). Each lane game can be pre-booked for groups of 2-6 players.
On Sundays you can enjoy the Battle of the Giant Games, from 1-5pm, includes Giant Games + MC + Prizes and Live Music.
